Eyes shut
The lingering scent of stale sweet smoke
Frankincense alighted from before I ‘woke
Haze fills my mind
Fog of sleep
Thick and deep
What stirring occurs nearby?
The warmth of a body with nursing lips
A bundle of blankets not past my hips
Birds twitter and my bundle coos
Who is this?
In my body
Organs amiss
Flattened and jelly-like
For now, I am not human but mother
Mother?
Eyes open
Soft light pushing through the curtain
A meal, a drink, a purpose so certain
Today, in the morning
I was rebirthed
I am sky
I am water
I am the earth
I LOVE THIS SO DEEPLY.
